  1. Carpenter's Hammer: When Karen went Punk. A Hensonverse TLIAW

I've got a lot on my plate, but PM me your ideas.
  2. Carpenter's Hammer: When Karen went Punk. A Hensonverse TLIAW

Thank you, @eliamartin65. Glad you enjoyed it.
  3. Would a Hybrid Heli-Carrier style Airship be practical?

Awesome but Impractical, to say the least. As others have noted, Airships are costly, fragile, have limited carriage capability, limited ceiling, and are vulnerable to bad weather, which limits military applicability, as recent attempts to resurrect the Airship as a mobile command and recon post...
  4. WI Frederick Barbarossa doesn’t drown (2023 ed)

Certainly my questions, LOL. Notable in that map you posted is the difference in de jura vs de facto control (red solid v. dashed lines). Perhaps @Nuraghe has some insights that could answer the hanging questions, as i can only guess. Almost certainly would see unification play out differently...
  5. WI Frederick Barbarossa doesn’t drown (2023 ed)

Thanks, Nuraghe, that comes about as close to making sense as HRE Internal Politics ever will for me, LOL. I'd wondered what the link was between Welfs and Guelphs, so thanks for explaining that. Wasn't sure if they were the same clan or different, TBH. Pretty much the "Long Game" approach for...
  6. WI Frederick Barbarossa doesn’t drown (2023 ed)

I'll defer to @Nuraghe on the speed of centralization here, and instead consider the HRE's neighbors now. These reflect my running thoughts just to keep the conversation going, and should not be seen as definitive. Europe in 1190 at the PoD for reference Angevin Empire: @John Fredrick Parker...
  7. AHC: Make Bridgerton realistic. Africans intermix with European nobility.

Probably true, but it is a massively challenging AHC! Technically "Arthur" converted to Christianity before the marriage so not technically a Pagan, but yeah, admittedly a hard sell!
  8. WI Frederick Barbarossa doesn’t drown (2023 ed)

Thank you, I'm humbled. Not enough of an expert on Capet France to make the comparison. Presumably the HRE confederation is weaker than that given the geographical and cultural-linguistic challenges, but still better than where they were OTL by far.
  9. AHC: Make Bridgerton realistic. Africans intermix with European nobility.

Wacky idea: under pressure to marry someone, Elizabeth I has Raleigh bring her back a "New World Prince" to wed, figuring she'd be able to bend him to her whim. He brings back Opechancanough, who assumes the Christian name Arthur. "Arthur" soon dies to some disease, but not before siring a son...
  10. WI Frederick Barbarossa doesn’t drown (2023 ed)

Ok, scraped together some time to type! Thanks again for humoring my questions. Concur with @John Fredrick Parker about starting with the 13th and 14th Centuries. @Nuraghe, the depth of your knowledge never ceases to amaze me. My medieval knowledge, however, is like the South Platte River in...
  11. WI Frederick Barbarossa doesn’t drown (2023 ed)

Thanks, @John Fredrick Parker and @Nuraghe for the replies, greatly appreciated! I'm trying to dig out the time to provide a detailed reply, but it's looking to be a busy Sunday. I'll get back to this, I promise! Please stand by...
  12. WI Frederick Barbarossa doesn’t drown (2023 ed)

All fascinating stuff, glad this got resurrected! Been thinking about Freddy Barbs of late, so perfect timing. I'm about as far from an HRE expert as you can get (I take one look at those maps from the 30 Years War and my brain breaks a little), so forgive the basic questions, but assuming all...
  13. Zionism in New York: A Jewish home

There was actually an attempt to resettle European Jews in Alaska OTL!! The Yiddish Policeman's Union uses this as its AH Setting. Attempts by the Coen Bros. to make a movie died in Development Hell, likely because it touches some third-rail issues...
  14. How powerful could Italy have become by 1940 if it wasn't run by a strutting buffoon?

Brilliant idea! Someone should make a half-timeline about that and leave it abandoned for over a decade. :happyblush ;) Balbo's IMO (obviously) the best case for a successful-ish Fascist Italy. Balbo was a Magnificent Bastard and a fantastic organizer and had the charisma and political acumen...
  15. What if Yul Brynner starred in the Grand Guignol ABBA Cold War Opera: Chess

Damnit, now that song's stuck in my head, LOL! But that's a fascinating idea. Either Yul lives a little bit longer (he died in '85 and Chess premiered on the West End in '86) or they manage to get to the West End in '84. I'd go with the latter as the easiest PoD. With Yul essentially on his...
