From a Russian nationalist insurgent within the Democratic Kingdom of the Far East. He was once an important figure in the Russian Empire; one could even call him a leader. Of course, the Russian Empire had trusted Ten to be Tsar; all that backfired when Ten carried out a palace coup and formed the DKFE. Now people are getting rights in the Far East! And the old rulers resent Ten and their allies for it.

Is there an excuse to be enemies when we only disagree because we have before? Have things not changed in the last decades?
From Adolf Hitler’s 1952 hit novel “Fall of Altdorf”. The book is about the fall of the great empire of Altdorf, heavily inspired by the country of Germany, to the combined armies of Albion and Hansa. Considered to be the German equivalent to Tolkien, Hitler drew from his experiences in both the First World War and the rise of Himmler’s Volkist Party in the 1930s, describing how the once mighty and tolerant kingdom of Altdorf falls under the sway of a powerful Warlock named Friedrich Hinzer in the aftermath of a great famine that sees the ruling Helden Family exiled. Once Hinzer consolidates his power he begins launching wars of conquest on his neighbors, leading to a decade of horrific bloodshed and magical devastation That ultimately ends with Altdorf being defeated by the two great powers. The line in question is uttered by Jaeger Helden, the last of the royal line of Helden, to the leaders of Albion when they come to him to crown him as King of a much-reduced Altdorf.
The novel would become a major hit, despite the heavy use of what is today reffered to as “Furry” characters (instead of humans the kingdoms are full of anthropomorphic animals, with wolves being in charge of Altdorf, tigers being in charge of Hansa, and boarsnin charge of Albion). It would be adapted into an animated trilogy in 1975, while Hitler would continue to flesh out the world of the novel until his death from old age in 1979.

Quote referencing the attempted shooting at Columbine High School that was stopped by PBS host Fred Rogers, who was visiting the school and who famously threw himself in front of students and staff, and managed to talk the would be shooters down from their plans. This would later result in Rogers testifying before Congress about gun control, resulting in a ban on assault weapons being strengthened.

"We all have our crosses to bear. We carry them heavily, out of love for our brothers in arms. But sometimes you have to let go of the idea that anyone down here is in control." - Harold Stassen

This is a quote from President Harold Stassen (1953-1957) to Imre Nagy during the mediation of the Hungarian-Soviet crisis in 1955. Stassen was a product of America's neo-isolationism, which followed the disastrous outcomes of the Japanese invasion and the failed Korean War, after which America would once again not intervene in global affairs outside of the Americas.

This quote is often taken out of context and used by conspiracy theorists to support the idea of a Global State secretly controlling global governments. In reality, Stassen was pointing out how Nagy's desire for revenge against the Soviets is simply part of a broader cycle of revenge neither he nor the Soviets started or controlled. Thanks to Stassen's diplomacy, Nagy accepted a compromise that gave his country a Finnish-style alliance with the Soviets.

Stassen's foreign policy, known as St. Paul Diplomacy, used America's economic power to serve as an international mediator. While some say this did increase American prestige without the cost of war, Stassen is also accused of enabling despots and dictatorships on behalf of multinational corporations.

"The strength of a nation is dependent on whether those who rule can sacrifice power for the broader public good. America failed since Lindbergh didn't give up power while Russia won because Kropotkin did.
An expert from the book on shifting tides, why Russia thrived in what should have been the American century. Kropotkin lead a succesful anarchist revolution in Russia in the early 1900s as its 'leader' and when the revolution succeeded depsite holding all the power he stepped down and handed over power to the communes, coops and unions.

Lindbergh by comparison aided in a succesful coup against the deeply unpopular prohibationist US government on the promises that he would restore true democracy to the United States. This would ultimately never happen and Lindbergh would become a near absolute dictator using his popularity to keep him power until his death. Ultimately his reign would end the same way as Cromwells with his son being incompitent and was replaced by a board of directors.

"Go back to London you cockney wanker”
A phrase uttered by a Richardson gang member towards a Kray Twins enforcer in the 1979 British gangster film, R&R. The film set in the heydays of London gangsterism in the 1960s, where a turf war between the Richardson Gang and the Kray Firm slowly boils over as several incidents of hostility and violence break out between them, culminating in a series of brutal war between the two gangs. The film was directed by Tom Clegg, who had experience directing the BBC crime drama The Sweeney, and was written by Talbot Rothwell in attempt to cash in with the public fascination with the titular figures of the film.

"No," said Lincoln, "it is not."
"However... sir, may I ask what Ligma is?"
And so President Lincoln died, not by gunshot or indeed any assassination, but by embarrassment. Fortunately for America, Johnson was foiled by a Radical Republican sympathizer reminiscing over his departed friend Joseph.

Said by the Sultan Abdulhamid II during the course of the Anglo-Ottoman War (1879-1880), which became part of the larger series of events known as the Twin Crises, that would shake Britain to its core and humble the empire.

In this timeline, the Sepoy mutiny doesn't occur and the British government finds some other reason to end Company rule in India. As such, the rebellion mitigation tactics are not employed. In 1878, a rebellion broke out. This spread when the various Hindu and Muslim local rulers deserted Britain in addition to Imperial troops mutinying. While the Muslims and Hindus explicitly agreed that they weren't on the same side, they agreed to mitigate any infighting between each other to focus on expelling the British.

While the British tried to put that down, Lord Chelmsford and British authorities in the Cape still proceed to antagonize the Zulu under the illusion they can quickly repress them. In this timeline's Anglo Zulu war, the Zulus battle more conservatively and don't overconfidently attack British positions.

So now, the British are bogged down in two wars. Then the Ottomans decide to give aid to Muslims rebels in India. Thus the British and Ottomans legally enter a state of war.
By 1880, the struggles of fighting two intense wars with growing domestic opposition takes its toll. The British make peace with Indian rebels, the Ottomans, and the Zulus.

"I know this may sound uncouth and harsh, but serves him right. All of this was caused by Franz Joseph starting a war with the Serbs. It's only fair that he ended up strung up on the streets of Belgrade"

Quote from Winston Churchill, First Lord of the Admiralty, upon hearing about the death of Austro-Hungarian Kaiser Franz Joseph, after Belgrade Pact forces captured him in the Battle of Vienna. The empire he had sought to reform into a federal entity was divided into the new countries of Hungary, Austria, Bohemia, and Slovakia.

President Kerensky asking his military adviser Joseph Jughsahvili on how many divisions Vladimer lenin, leader of the Russian black army an insurrectionary anarchist army, had and how to respond to it. Turned out it was a lot more than expected and the Russian republic would lose the battle of Moscow and be forced to retreat to Petrograd.

A famous reply by Winston Churchill to Charles de Gaulle shortly before Soviet troops stormed Paris in 1942, suggesting that French divisions "bank" around the Red Army in a last-ditch effort to save the city from capture.

"Kevin Sorbo's Conan was such a huge hit, that we were allowed to produce a Red Sonja spinoff in less than two years."
Producer Dino de Laurentiis comments on the extremely successful 1983 sword-and-sorcery film, Conan the Cimmerian, starring Kevin Sorbo as the title role. Kevin Sorbo spent three months working out to build up the physique needed to depict Conan in the film. The film was a blockbuster upon its release, with Universal Pictures greenlighting an adaptation of Red Sonja in response. However, disputes with its creator, Roy Thomas, and the publisher, Marvel Comics, prematurely ended prospects of production as they filed a complaint over Universal refusing to pay royalties.

"Star Wars ruined cinema forever!"

"Kevin Sorbo's Conan was such a huge hit, that we were allowed to produce a Red Sonja spinoff in less than two years."

A review discussing Kevin Sorbo's career over after his star success over in the Hercules television series. Hercules would end over after Season Five due to Sorbo wanting to rest as a result of health concerns. That said, he couldn't help but be drawn back into the idea of playing Conan the Barbarian. While there were rumors that Sorbo pushed for it to become a Kull the Conqueror film (due to hesitations on redoing a character already played), he relented as he would be convinced that it would help his career. It helped that he was given some assistance in the creative process. In an attempt to make the film stand out more, the film moved away from camp and toward being grounded and serious, though not bleak. As such, the film took a while to develop, but would be considered worth it.

The film, known as Conan, would be released over in 1998. It focused on Sorbo's Conan in a sort of midlife crisis. Set during an ambush, it has Conan leading forces to defeating cultists in a quest to finally slay Thoth-Amon. However, as he gets the answer needs to pursue the dark wizard, he is also haunted by the aches and pains of old age and long past fights. The unspoken question is on what should happen to Conan after? Conan himself believes that he will die slaying Thoth-Amon and it's initially portrayed as a noble way though it also becomes darkened when it's called out if it is because Conan wishes to die in his prime out of a fear of aging and not knowing what he will do. This theme looms as Conan recalls adventurers to his party and sees the changing world. And then at last, he encounters Thoth-Amon and defeats him, only for Amon's final trick being to fight a shadowy illusion of Conan. Conan wins when he reembraces his desire to live, but more than himself. Ultimately, it sees Conan find new purpose: to teach others to be strong and he becomes a sort of warrior king.

Sorbo noted hs health struggles played a big part with the character and his own fears of getting old. However, interacting with the younger staff he says, reminded him there was so much more he could do. The film was lauded for its deep plot on exploring masculinity and leadership in old age along with serving as how the legend of Conan would end, namely, ascending beyond the warrior and into influential legacy. On a technical level, the usage of practical effects was paised along with Sorbo. Sorbo had Conan fight smarter than harder, though it fit with the underappeciated genius of the character, something that was noted in the film. Additionally, the mention of Red Sonja would allow for a spin-off. However, rather than focus on similar themes, the Red Sonja series focused on the struggles of being a woman in such a world, along with feminity and its power. While Conan was standalone, the Red Sonja films were a trilogy. Sorbo would return to the character, albeit voicing the character in an animated series made by Genndy Tartakovsky airing on [adult swim], serving as a sequel to the film. The series ran for four seasons from 2004-2008 ending with Conan dying a glorious death before meeting Crom for a duel. The success of the animated series (thanks to word of mouth and good marketing) also led to a Red Sonja animated series, which also focused afte the films and focused on similar themes of Red Sonja getting older and the like. Sorbo noted the film helped recontexualize his life choices and his career.

A famous quote by President Lincoln who is exploring why it is impairative that America must go to war with their age old enemy Britian following the British aid to the Confederate army in 1865. Of course this was the beginning of the First World War with France coming to the aid of the Untied States. However the United States would lose and forced to give into harsh treatries including giving back California to Mexico. Later famous politican and future dictator Orson Welles would begin the Stabbed in the Back Myth saying their had been traitors, most noticeably the Irish Catholics who had caused the United States to lose.

“The Pope’s conversion to Mormonism is not a hoax, we are witnessing the biggest break in the Catholic Church since the Protestant Reformation.”

“The Pope’s conversion to Mormonism is not a hoax, we are witnessing the biggest break in the Catholic Church since the Protestant Reformation.”
From the Doomstay Prophet "Big Josh" in New York, who caused much ruckus in New York City with his deranged rants at Times Square in May 2013. In truth, the Pope Francis, having been elected to the position mere two months before, met with dignitaries of the Mormon Faith in Paris on May 6th, alongside members of several other Christian clergies, such as Eastern Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican, and Coptics, but he did not convert, nor even support the Mormon faith. The meeting was an attempt by the relatively newly-elected Pope of the Catholic Church to mend the divides between the various churches and bring, in his words, "The people of Christ back into one united family". The Mormons were invited as a courtesy. Though this meeting, unofficially called the "Council of Paris" by some, would not entirely mend the divides, it was seen as a great gesture from the new Pope.

"So, how did the Ottoman Empire choose to convert to Catholicism? Well, it all started with a simple game of chess and a cup of tea..."
